On November 25, 2024, the Director General (DG) of BIMRAD actively participated in a Policy Café titled "Restoring People's Voting Rights: The Role of the Electoral System Reform Commission” arranged by BIPSS. The event was held at 11:00 am and chaired by Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Head of the Electoral Reform Commission.
The Policy Café brought together a diverse group of national and international participants, including representatives from Government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). The interactive discussion focused on ensuring a fair and independent electoral process in Bangladesh.
During the session, participants shared valuable insights and recommendations to strengthen the framework of the Election Commission. Key points included the necessity for transparency, robust implementation of regulatory measures, and public trust-building mechanisms to guarantee free and fair elections.
During the discussion, the DG BIMRAD emphasized the critical need for developing a National Plan of Action (NPOA) to establish a well-guided and structured work implementation plan for electoral reform. The DG highlighted that a comprehensive NPOA could serve as a strategic roadmap, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accountability in the reform process.
