Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing poses a widespread and growing peril to marine habitats and the communities that depend on them. This has been one of my foremost issues for a long time, given the precarious yet essential function of the Bay of Bengal (BoB) in supporting oceanic biodiversity and the livelihoods of billions. Not only do IUU fish undermine the professional interest in producing a sustainable seafood supply chain, but it is also one of the main drivers of much of my work and research.
