The General Body of Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research and Development (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Institute’) shall be composed of General Members and Founding Members
For membership in general, following points must be brought into consideration:
Membership of the Institute is open to all individuals or organizations with an interest in the maritime fields and security affairs. Only Bangladeshi citizens are eligible for membership. In special case, foreign nationals having distinguished expertise in maritime affairs may be granted as Honorary member as decided by the Governing Body. The admission of members is entrusted to the Executive Committee who shall have an absolute discretion as to the admission of members and as to the manner in which selection is to be carried out. The number of members and fees and subscriptions payable in each class will be such as may be determined by the Executive Committee.
The admission of Members and Associates is entrusted to the Executive Committee, who shall have an absolute discretion, as to admission of members and associates from eligible candidates, and as to the manner in which the selection is carried out. In order to qualify for membership, candidates should be able, in the option of the Executive Committee, to further the study or strategy by reason of experience, calling for special knowledge.

Bangladesh Armed Forces or any other organizations approved by the Bangladesh Government or any foreign registered organizations duly approved by their Government or appropriate authority dealing with matters related to education and research in the maritime field may be admitted as Associate Corporate Members by the Executive Committee on such conditions as may be specified in each case.
The Executive Committee may, on application in the prescribed form, admit on such conditions, as may be specified in each case as an Associate Member of the Institute, any person who is a member of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Services or of a service related to the maritime fields, Academia, University Professor, Lecturer, Student and any other such person. An Associate Member has the same privileges as General Members, but will not be entitled to vote at the General Body meetings of the Institute.
Persons and Ex-Officio who are involved in formation of the Institute and names of those are incorporated in the Memorandum of Association as General Member..
The following persons shall be General Members of the Institute:
Distinguished personality both from home and abroad with outstanding record of contribution in the maritime field or dealing with national security matters may be admitted as Honorary Members by The Executive Committee on such conditions as may be specified in each case. Honorary members will not have any voting right in the General Body meeting of the Institute.
Registered organizations who are involved in activities related to maritime affairs may be given membership of the Institution with the approval of Executive Committee. Institutional member is nominated by concerned institution and be an ex-officio of the institution concerned.
The Governing Body may, on application in the prescribed form, admit on such conditions, as may be specified in each case and on payment of such multiples of membership fees as may be specified by it, from time to time, any person qualified to be as a Life Member of the Institute.
