The fourth edition of the coordinated patrol (CORPAT) between the navies of Bangladesh and India began today (May 22, 2022) in the northern Bay of Bengal.
 

During the exercise, units of the Bangladesh Navy and Indian Navy will undertake joint patrolling along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) till May 23, the Indian Defence Ministry said in a statement, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
 

Bangladesh Navy Ships “BNS Ali Haider” and “BNS Abu Ubaidah” and two indigenously-built Indian Navy ships Kora, a guided-missile corvette and Sumedha, an offshore patrol vessel, are participating in the exercise.
 

In addition, maritime patrol aircraft of both the navies would also be participating in the coordinated patrol.
 

“The regular conduct of CORPATs has strengthened mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability between both the navies in countering transnational maritime threats at sea,” according to the statement.
 

The last CORPAT between the navies of Bangladesh and India was conducted in October 2020.
