Outcome Document | Webinar | Marine Pollution: A Growing Peril to Marine and Costal Zone of Bangladesh
09 Dec 2021

Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research and Development (BIMRAD) and Khulna University (KU) jointly organized a webinar on "Marine Pollution: A Growing Peril to Marine and Coastal Zone of Bangladesh" on 09 December, 2021. Maritime scholars, Bangladesh Navy officials (serving and retired), Govt. officials, NGOs and representatives of prominent think tanks in Bangladesh participated in this session.

The webinar pinpointed marine pollution from point and non-point sources and how this pollution damaged our marine biodiversity and degraded our marine environment. Marine pollution is a global issue. Besides implementing the policies based on fundamental research, regional initiatives should be taken following the global agreement to control the transboundary river pollution, especially for combating plastic waste in the marine region.

This outcome document outlined the bottom lines of the discussion and the required preventive measures to protect the maritime zones of Bangladesh. The document will help the participants and relevant stakeholders in future research and new policy making!
