The Bangladesh Navy organized a multidimensional seminar to celebrate World Hydrographic Day on 25 June 2024.

The inaugural session featured the Honorable Minister of State for the Ministry of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP as the chief guest. The Honorable Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, served as the special guest, while Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus at BRAC University, delivered the keynote address.

After a short break, the working session started under moderation by the Director General of BIMRAD, Cdre Syed Misbah Uddin Ahmad. Professor Dr Towhida Rashid, Director General of BORI could not attend because of some unavoidable circumstance and presentations were given by two eminent scholars Cdre Sheikh Mahmudul Hassan (retd) and Cdre Sheikh Firoz Ahmed, Chief Hydrographer of Bangladesh Navy. They talked about renowned knowledge of hydrography and some new ideas for better application in building developed maritime Bangladesh.

The seminar was concluded by an energetic interactive session, which provided a brainstorming platform for marine researchers, academicians, and other practitioners from Maritime Sectors. Discussions certainly opened the windows in new area of research in the domain.
