Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) organizes a monthly roundtable on a contemporary geopolitical issue. The most recent one, held on 23rd July 2023, focused on ‘Defence Diplomacy: A Powerful Tool of Statecraft’.

A panel of experts comprising two distinguished speakers discussed the given topic. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Distinguished Fellow, BIPSS and former advisor to the Foreign Ministry and Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain (retd), former ambassador and distinguished expert, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University spoke at the event as panelists. The speakers opined that defence diplomacy could be used as a tool for peace and stability in an increasingly challenging world. It is not a panacea, but rather builds mutual trust and promotes transparency in transnational interactions. BIPSS President Maj Gen ANM Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc (retd) moderated the roundtable. Nur Ahmed, Research Officer (Maritime Affairs and Security), represented BIMRAD at the roundtable.
