Participation in Seminar on ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific: Implications for South Asia Region’

Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) organizes monthly seminars on contemporary geopolitical issues. The most recent one, held on 05th September 2023, was jointly organized by BIPSS and the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh and focused on ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific: Implications for South Asia Region’.

 

Mr. MACHIDA Tatsuya, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, gave the opening remarks at the event. Professor JIMBO Ken, Professor, Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University, delivered a presentation on Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) as the keynote speaker. Afterwards, a panel of experts comprising two distinguished speakers discussed the given topic. Dr. Lailufar Yasmin, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of International Relations, Dhaka University, and Mr. Shafqat Munir, Senior Research Fellow of BIPSS spoke at the event as panelists. BIPSS President Maj Gen ANM Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc (retd) moderated the seminar. Nur Ahmed, Research Officer (Maritime Affairs and Security) of BIMRAD participated in the seminar.
