BIMSTEC Secretary General M Shahidul Islam had a call on with the Chairman of BIMRAD Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, NBP, OSP, BCGM, ndc, psc (retd) on 28 August 2019 at BIMRAD premise. BIMSTEC SG provided briefs on the present status and future goals of BIMSTEC and areas of possible cooperation among the countries. He expressed that there had been huge potentials and scope of work for making the forum very effective, provided member states agree. During the discussion with the DG, Cdre Kazi Emdadul Haq, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Dept. of International Relations, DU, Advisors, Director, Addl Director and Research Officers of BIMRAD some excellent ideas with an aim to make ’Beautiful Bangladesh' have been floated. Chairman of BIMRAD stressed that BIMSTEC as a facilitator may approach different forum to interact with BIMRAD.  He also mentioned that BIMRAD would take initiatives to conduct some meaningful interaction with various forum/organisations/business communities where BIMSTEC may act as a facilitator to start with. Chairman, BIMRAD also expressed his intention to interact with Thai-Bangladesh business community for the possibility to work on to provide better business environment between the countries (Bangladesh and Thailand) being BIMSTEC members.
