Admiral Rabinder "Robin" Kumar Dhowan, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC (retd), former Chief of Naval Staff, Indian Navy had a call on with former CNS of Bangladesh Navy & Chairman of BIMRAD Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, NBP, OSP, BCGM, ndc, psc (retd) and BIMRAD officials on 30th September 2019. During the discussion with the Advisors and BIMRAD officials, Admiral Rabinder "Robin" Kumar Dhowan stressed upon India-Bangladesh maritime connectivity and joint effort for the exploitation and conservation of marine resources in the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. He also mentioned that Bangladesh and India could jointly work concerning the eco-tourism, inland water trade and transport, deep sea fishing technology, ship building etc. Both the country could exchange knowledge and experts - he said. In this regard he again pointed the scope of National Maritime Foundation, India and Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research and Development to work in collaboration concerning research and policy advocacy for the development of both the countries and BoB littorals. Chairman of BIMRAD opined that Bangladesh-India-Sri Lanka can work together concerning the maritime interest of these countries as they share common maritime domain- the Indian Ocean.
