Participation in BIISS Seminar on ‘Climate Diplomacy: Constraints and Choices for Bangladesh’

Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organized a hybrid seminar on ‘Climate Diplomacy: Constraints and Choices for Bangladesh’ on 04th October 2022. H. E. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Planning, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

 

The inaugural seminar was kicked off with the welcome speech of the Acting Director General of BIISS, Colonel M A Saadi, afwc, psc. It was followed by the speech of the Special Guest, Professor Saleemul Huq, who outlined the valuable role of the diplomats in making efforts to tackle climate change.  In his remarks, the Chief Guest said, “Bangladesh has been a significant player in global climate diplomacy. During the presidency of Climate Vulnerable Forum, Bangladesh emerged as a legitimate voice in the climate change negotiations under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”. Ambassador Kazi Imtiaz Hossain, Chairman of the BIISS chaired the introductory session. Afterward, a working session chaired by Farah Kabir, Country Director, Action Aid Bangladesh, was organized. A panel of four distinguished speakers spoke at the session. It was followed by a vibrant Q&A session featuring questions and comments. Mr. Nur Ahmed, Research Officer, represented BIMRAD in this distinguished program.
