Participation in ‘Icccad-Iub Distinguished Guest Lecture on Human Rights Impacts of Climate Change and Loss and Damage’

The International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) arranged ‘ICCCAD-IUB Distinguished Guest Lecture on Human Rights Impacts of Climate Change and Loss and Damage’ on Monday, September 5, 2022, from 18.30 to 20:30 at Six Seasons Hotel. Dr. Ian Fry, UNHRC Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in the context of Climate Change, delivered the lecture. The event was articulated with the Lecture by Dr. Ian Fry, with discussion by a set of thematic experts, followed by an open, participatory discussion with all attendees. Almost 30 officials and representatives from different GOs, NGOs, and stakeholders participated in the session. Afifat Khanam Ritika, Research Officer, Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research and Development (BIMRAD), participated in this significant session.

 The event provided a platform to:

> Highlight fundamental global policy advances and milestones and inputs (submissions) on loss and damage, displacement and human mobility;
> Present existing work on loss and damage, human rights, and displacement;
> Identify key steps to strengthen and implement policies and plans to minimize and address economic and non-economic loss and damage related to displacement in vulnerable communities.
